Mental distress takes many forms. Some people experience sudden shifts in emotions linked to changes in life circumstances, and others cope with life-long patterns of depression or anxiety. Occasionally, such discomfort is tied to distressing behaviors, such as disordered eating. Dr. Hagan works with people to understand what biological, psychological, and social factors are driving symptoms and tailors treatment effectively. Dr. Hagan received her MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York and completed residency in Adult Psychiatry at The University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. As a Psychotherapy Track Resident, Dr. Hagan was trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, family systems theory, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. She brings wisdom from these traditions to her patient encounters. She has shared her work with colleagues and actively participated in conferences in New York, Hong Kong, Houston, and Dallas. Dr. Hagan has contributed to research in eating disorders.
