Hello and welcome! My name is Woods and I’m so glad you found your way here – I would be honored to help support you or your child along your journey to a happier healthier self. I specialize in expressive arts therapy, experiential learning theory, and nature based mindfulness techniques. I honor and respect these indigenous ways of healing and am passionate about providing folks the space to explore their creativity and connect with the natural world around us. My approach is client centered, environmentally aware, body positive and trauma informed – I firmly believe that you know yourself and your needs better than anyone else; I am simply a guide, here to listen and support you as you make sense of your own learning, healing and identity exploration. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community (trans masc.), I work well with marginalized groups and recognize issues through a systemic, social justice lens. I am also a member of the recovery community and enjoy working with other folks who have experienced issues with addiction. Whether you are someone who has personally experienced chemical dependency or a family member who has been affected by the use of a loved one. I have enjoyed working with youth across Washington State as an outdoor educator and most recently as a National Park Ranger. During my time working in the outdoor industry, I have seen the physical and psychological toll that accompanies our planet’s rapidly changing climate. I believe that mental health support through ever increasing climate chaos is vital to one’s well being. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my partner, drawing, playing guitar, hiking, foraging local plants and mushrooms, skateboarding, reading (with good coffee), caring for my plants, and hanging out with my two dogs. I obtained my BA in Fine Arts (2012) and my Masters Degree in Education/Counseling Psychology – Art Therapy (2016) from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. I have partnered with Mentaya to help clients use their out-of-network benefits to save money on therapy. Follow the link below to see if you qualify for reimbursement for my services.
