Introduction

Hello, My name is Zohaa and I am a clinical therapist intern at Stride Forward Counseling. I became a therapist because from a young age, my friends sought me out as their confidante, drawn to my natural ability to listen and offer support. This innate desire to help others blossomed into a burning passion, especially after witnessing the lack of accessible mental health resources within my South Asian community, where open discussions about mental health were often discouraged. The yearning to offer the accessible, culturally-sensitive support I once sought, not just for myself but for others like me, became my driving force. Today, I stand as a caring, empathetic, and diligent therapist, equipped with a diverse toolkit of therapeutic approaches like CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and Culturally Sensitive practices. This allows me to tailor my approach to each individual’s unique needs, fostering emotional well-being, self-compassion, and empowered action. My own journey of navigating my South Asian heritage informs my understanding of the intricate dance between cultural expectations, religious beliefs, and personal experiences. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, eating concerns, relationship challenges, or simply navigating the complexities of your own diverse identity, I’m here to walk alongside you with culturally competent support. My areas of specialization include: Anxiety: I understand the crippling nature of anxiety and can help you develop coping mechanisms to manage intrusive thoughts and fears. Eating Disorders/Disordered Eating: Through a personalized approach, I can empower you to rebuild a healthy relationship with food and your body. Child Therapy: Using age-appropriate and playful techniques, I can help your child understand and express their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. Peer Relationships: Whether navigating bullying, social anxiety, or simply building healthy friendships, I can equip your child with the tools they need to thrive socially. Relationship Issues: I can facilitate healthy communication and conflict resolution, fostering stronger, more fulfilling relationships. Muslim Faith: Navigating faith alongside mental health challenges can be complex. I am here to offer culturally sensitive support tailored to your unique beliefs and values. South Asian Identity: Having walked a similar path, I understand the specific challenges and cultural nuances relevant to the South Asian community. Ages I work with: 3 – 50 years old Types of counseling: Individual and couples I believe therapy is a collaborative journey, where cultural understanding and genuine connection pave the way for meaningful growth and healing. If you’re ready to embark on this journey towards a healthier, more fulfilled you, let’s talk. Contact me today and let’s explore the possibilities together.
