“In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can.” -Nikos Kazantzakis When we find ourselves at a crossroads in life, whether it be physical, emotional, or spiritual, most of us need some guidance to help us through. I enjoy helping others navigate through times of need. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and began counseling as a second career after teaching for many years. I found it increasingly difficult to reach the students to help their social and emotional growth on an individual basis, so I began my journey to a new career. With 20 years of teaching in addition to my counseling career, my unique experiences have provided me with the tools to have a well-rounded view of many issues that face families and individuals each day. I enjoy working with individuals that struggle with Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, OCD, Bipolar Disorder, trauma, PTSD, grief, anger management, parenting, oppositional behaviors, LGBTQ+, among many others. I have extensive experience working with foster youth through difficult family transitions. I specialize in families and believe that the family system is an integral part to heal, grieve, and adjust during times of hardship. Communication, self-worth, and mindfulness are themes that run through my counseling sessions. We all possess the tools to be emotionally healthy, but sometimes we need help to identify the coping skills we need to abandon and start fresh. Everyone has a contribution to the world that is important and we need self-care to achieve what we are capable of. In the hard times, we can find strength, acceptance, and self-love. I would be honored to assist you and your family on this journey. In my personal life I have been married to my wonderful husband for over 20 years. We have 4 children, a little dog and a bunny. Our family motto is “Be thankful for what you have”.
