What is acceptance and commitment therapy used for?

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a form of therapy used to help people come to terms with their emotions rather than denying, ignoring, or avoiding them. ACT helps patients realize that their emotions, both positive and negative, are normal and appropriate and that the issues they are facing may be holding them back.

This therapy aims to teach people to accept the current situation they're in and strives to teach them how to make the changes that are necessary for growth and moving on. It can help people deal with depression, stress, trauma, anxiety, and work- or school-related problems.
